Banned fashion website Shein to re-enter India through Amazon

Amazon Fashion has listed Shein as a part of its Prime Day 2021 sale that's set to travel live between July 26 and 27 .

The re-launch of SHEIN has excited shoppers around India who are keenly looking forward to the fashionable, affordable fashion outlet. what's even more interesting is that SHEIN will relaunch in India through Amazon.

Chinese fashion brand Shein is making a comeback in India through marketplace Amazon—a year and a half after the style site, popular for its latest styles and accessible price points, was temporarily barred from selling goods in India along side Clubhouse and Ali Express for evading tax rules. the location was also later banned by the house Ministry as a part of India’s crackdown on Chinese apps in 2020.

The Chinese retailer is fast becoming Gen Z’s favorite fashion company, for its low prices and savvy social media use
If you’ve spent your time scrolling and shopping on TikTok, you’re probably accustomed to the style retailer Shein. From personal experience, however, “familiar” doesn’t properly contextualize how pervasive the brand is, a minimum of online. Perhaps a more accurate description is: i'm haunted by Shein. As a consumer who falls squarely within the brand’s target demographic — a lady in her 20s, who buys most of her clothes online — I encounter Shein-related content almost daily, algorithmically fed to me through Instagram advertisements, YouTube hauls, and viral TikTok recommendations.

SHEIN was among the primary list of 59 Chinese apps that were banned by the Ministry of data Technology under Section 69A of the IT Act in June last year for risking the “sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order” by allegedly invading cybersecurity and user privacy.

Shein’s ubiquity, most notably on TikTok, has catapulted the retailer to cult status among young women across the world. And while Shein is predicated out of China, it ships to 220 countries, with the US serving as its largest consumer market

More than a year after the Indian government imposed a ban on over 200 Chinese apps, popular China-based shopping platform SHEIN is prepared to form a comeback in India. The re-launch of SHEIN has excited shoppers around India who are keenly looking forward to the stylish, affordable fashion outlet. what's even more interesting is that SHEIN will relaunch in India through Amazon. Several popular apps including PUBG Mobile, TikTok, WeChat, Camscanner etc had been banned together with the shopping website in June 2020.

In 2019, the placement had to temporarily stop shipping orders and initiate customer refunds after a crackdown by Mumbai Customs' department over allegations that Chinese shopping sites were paying lower duties than actually due. Nearly 500 parcels belonging to Shein and Club House were then seized. The seizure order showed that a Shein warehouse was sealed in Mumbai after officials found it undervaluing and wrongly declaring goods, in keeping with a 2 July report by Business Standard.
